Kathy attended
midwifery school and graduated from the University of Southern
California with a Master's Degree in Nursing in 1994. She is certified
by the American College of Nurse-Midwives and is a licensed Advanced
Registered Nurse Practitioner in the state of Florida. She has
attended more than 2,000 births during her 13 year career. Kathy says
the best part about being a midwife and nurse practitioner is the
direct impact she has on developing trusting, comprehensive, and
satisfying partnerships with the women and families she cares for.
Prior to her career in
Midwifery, she participated as an RN in numerous Clinical Research
trials through the Department of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the
University of California at Irvine. Those trials included care of
patients with severe hyper emesis (vomiting in pregnancy) and twin to
twin transfusion syndromes among others. She has had her work
published in the Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Neonatal
Nursing. Kathy continues her interest in clinical research with
participation in numerous trials with Suncoast Clinical Research.
Kathy has several years experience in labor and delivery nursing. She
has also educated nurse midwife students and received Teacher of the
Year award from the Community Based Nurse-Midwifery Education Program.
Appointments with
Kathy can be arranged for well woman exams, family planning, and
menopause concerns and of course pregnancy care. In her free time,
Kathy enjoys yoga, working out, cooking, travel, and nature.
Kathy has a 20
year-old daughter who is attending college in California, majoring in
biology.
